Mysterious God

God always does these wonderful things and then gives us the choice to believe that it was him, or believe it was just dumb luck – and it forces us to make a decision about him.

If he just showed up in his glory and did something then we wouldn’t have to take action to make a choice – it would just be obvious. But by working how he does, it forces us to choose whether we believe him or not.

God does not simply let us sit on the sidelines and watch him passively. He invites us to believe and step into faith in him and then lovingly lets us choose.

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:14-15
