We hear him because we belong to him. We are his sheep. John 10:27, 8:47.

When we seek him, he will speak to our hearts saying “This is the way, walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21, John 6:63

He came to Samuel with an audible voice. However we hear from him, we should be quick to listen, so we can hear and recognize it is the Lord. 1 Samuel 3:10, James 1:19

God calls and speaks to us through his Holy Spirit. John 14:16-21

There are many false prophets who claim to have heard a voice from the Lord. The world listens to them. Anyone teaching a gospel other than what we have received, or that denies the Lordship of Jesus or that the Messiah, Jesus came in the flesh, is not from God. 1 John 4:1-6

We must remain in Christ so that we can properly hear the Lord. 1 John 2:26-29

There is eternal condemnation for those who teach a gospel other than Jesus. Galatians 1:8

Satan and the Antichrist are at work to send false prophets, persecution, pressure and deception to drown out the voice of God. Jesus calls us to endurance during all of this. Matthew 24:9-13
